Retired since 2009, she formerly served as an attorney in her own private practice for 13 years, having previously acted as an associate attorney with Kaplan, Heyman, Greenberg, Engelman & Belgrad from 1988 to 1996. Prior to these illustrious roles, she was a law clerk at the Potomac Electric Power Company from 1985 to 1988 and a paralegal with Weil, Gotshal & Manges from 1983 to 1985. She commenced her career as a park ranger with the National Park Service in 1976.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Milton pursued formal education at West Virginia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1976. She subsequently received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from George Washington University in 1988. Alongside her primary endeavors, she was formerly on the board of directors of the Arts and Humanities Alliance of Jefferson County in the mid-to-late 1990s, as well as the treasurer of the Jefferson County Democratic Executive Committee from 1998 to 2002. She also served as president of the Old Opera House Theater Company, Inc., from 2000 to 2002 and a volunteer with the Jefferson County Museum.

The author of “Jim Milton and the Great War,” published in the magazine of the Jefferson County Historical Society in 2016, Ms. Milton was the recipient of the President Award from the Old Opera House Theatre Company, Inc., in 2004. In addition, she has been highlighted in the 14th and 16th editions of Who’s Who in American Law. However, she considers the highlights of her career to be the cases she has won.
