John Bonee III, Attorney, Member/Partner at BoneeWeintraub LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law practice and administration.
Mr. Bonee has practice law for more than four decades, launching his career after being admitted to the Connecticut and US District Court of Connecticut bars in 1974. That same year, he took on an associate role at McCook, Kenyon and Bonee, and worked in this respect until 1978. In 1979, he was made partner of eponymous-named Bonee Law Offices, LLP. He remained at this juncture until 2007, where he has since served as partner at BoneeWeintraub LLC. In 1975, he was admitted to the US Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, and later in 1979 was admitted to the US Supreme Court. Mr. Bonee’s areas of practice include civil trial work, estate administration, wills and trusts, and collaborative family-matrimonial litigation. Some of his most notable cases are Conn. Bank and Trust Company vs. Coffin, 212 Conn. 678 (1989), Rosgen v. Veneziano, Superior Court Judicial District of Litchfield (CV-97-0073323-S, 1998), Corneroli v. D’Amico, 116 Conn.App.159 (2009), Fedus v. Planning and Zoning Commission, 112 Conn.App. 844 (2009) and 278 Conn. 751 (2006) and Sorban v. Sterling Engineering Corporation, 79 Conn.App. 444 (2003).
Knowing from an early age that he could help others with a career in law, he pursued the field academically. He first earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Trinity College in 1970 before receiving a JD from Suffolk University in 1974. He continued to color in his legal experience with postgraduate work at the Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands in 1975. While maintaining a busy career in law, Mr. Bonee has also dedicated his time to civic pursuits. He served on the Board of Education for the Town of West Hartford, the Community Planning Advisory Committee and the Town Council in the 1980s. Furthermore, he has provided his skills on the Board of Directors of the World Affairs Council, the Trinity Club of Hartford and several other roles. He was also the host and producer of Inside/Out, a commentary program on public affairs on the West Hartford Cable Television Station.
Mr. Bonee has also maintained professional affiliation with a variety of organizations that have aided in his development. These include the American Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association and the Hartford County Bar Association. Within these organizations, he has held various roles on committees and board positions, such as being editor-at-large of the Connecticut Bar Association’s legal journal and serving in the House of Delegates for the American Bar Association.
