An award-winning attorney and former partner of Katten Muchin Rosenman, LLP, Mr. Goldman demonstrates expertise in law developed over five decades. In his career, he has achieved high recognition from industry professionals for his commitment to acting justly and remaining humble in the face of achievement. As a lawyer, two cases stand out for Mr. Goldman as highlights of his career. The first was in regards to an oil case in the Persian Gulf. Mr. Goldman represented six oil companies that were fighting for oil in the Gulf and won the case. Another high profile case Mr. Goldman worked on was the MGM Fire of 1980 litigation case. The fire killed more than 80 people and injured hundreds of others. These cases serve as reminders as to how important the work he does is. In recognition of his professional excellence, Mr. Goldman has received a Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award and was nominated for Humanitarian of the Year by the National Conference of Christians and Jews. When asked of his achievements in his career, Mr. Goldman says that his personal definition of success is having a wonderful marriage of 56 years.
Mr. Goldman became an attorney as influenced by his uncles, who were lawyers. To prepare for his career, he attended Harvard University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in 1958 and a JD in 1963. Years later, he would receive an honorary LHD from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Over the course of his career, Mr. Goldman held prominent roles including as a partner of Wyman, Bautzer, Kuchel & Silbert, where he first began his tenure as an associate in 1963. He has also been an arbitrator for the California Superior Court, as well as a judge pro tem for municipal courts and small claims courts in California. Outside of his professional work, Mr. Goldman is very involved in civic projects in his community. He currently sits on the board of directors for the Saint John’s Hospital and Health Center Foundation, as well as the board of Governors for the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. In addition, he acts as an officer of the National Board of Trustees for the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. As he looks to the future, Mr. Goldman intends to continue giving back to his community through his civic projects.
