Charles J. Egan, Jr., AB, LLB, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in corporate law.

For more than six decades, Mr. Egan has demonstrated well-rounded expertise in law that has enabled him to establish a reputation of excellence throughout many significant cities across the country including New York City and Kansas City, Missouri. As a corporate lawyer, he often counsels clients and handles business transactions including negotiation, drafting, and review of contracts and other agreements associated with the activities of the business, such as mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. Mr. Egan began his career in 1959 after serving as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps and completing his education. The subsequent success achieved in his career is supported by a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University and an LLB from Columbia University.

Mr. Egan’s early roles in law include his work as an associate of Donovan, Leisure, Newton & Irvin in New York, NY. He remained in this position for four years until becoming a partner at Hall, McNicol, Marett & Hamilton. Regarded as an expert in his field, he came to further prominence as vice president and counsel of Thomson & McKinnon Securities and, later, vice president and general counsel for Hallmark Cards, Inc. Along the way, Mr. Egan has also served as a trustee for the Kansas City Art Institute, member of the dean’s council at Columbia Law School, co-chairman of the Harvard College Fund, trustee of the Pembroke Country Day School, member of the board of directors for the Kansas City YMCA, trustee of the Notre Dame de Sion Schools of Kansas City, Missouri, and co-trustee of the Stanley H. Durwood Foundation.

When asked of his drive, Mr. Egan admits that he is gratified by the wide range of experiences that his work has exposed him to. To remain at the top of his field, he has been very involved in his professional community. Notably, he has been president and executive committee member of the Harvard Alumni Association and president of the Harvard Club of Kansas City. He is also a distinguished member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas City Lawyers Association, Century Association and the Somerset Club. Look ahead, Mr. Egan intends to continue delivering top quality legal work while seeking new opportunities in his field to make a difference.
