Martin Seidel Needelman, Project Director and Chief Counsel at Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the legal profession.

As a young man, Mr. Needelman attended Brooklyn College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and urbanization in 1966. He excelled on the bar exam and was admitted to the Boston University School of Law, where he earned a JD in 1969. In 1970, Mr. Needelman was licensed to practice law by the New York State Bar Association, and he worked as an attorney for Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) at the Southside Community Mission in Brooklyn. In 1971, he transitioned to Brooklyn Legal Services Corp. A (Brooklyn A), where he worked as a staff attorney. Mr. Needelman continued his legal education at the New York University School of Law, and earned an LLM in 1978.

Mr. Needelman achieved great success at Brooklyn A, and in 1984 he became the organization’s project director and chief counsel. In addition to the New York State Bar Association, he has also been licensed to practice law by the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and by the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Mr. Needelman’s commitment to community-focused legal service for underserved populations has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Pro Bono Award from the Brooklyn Bar Association in 1992, the Risk Taker of the Year Award from Jews for Racial and Economic Justice in 1998, and the Louis Lefkowitz Award from the Fordham Law School Public Interest Center in 2010.
